What else is there, i'm fresh out of ideas?
I'm so at my wits end with my daughter, I just moved to NJ almost 2 yrs ago and it's taking thus long for her to remotely in any shape or form get her room to a nice, clean and formative state. I'm at lost with ideas, of getting her to get it done. She's my oldest child at 9 and it seems to be trinkling down to my 6 yrs son, whom now bearly completes putting things away properly now. I've tried punishment, discipline, removing of toys and all entertainment, even taking away watching tv and nothing is getting through. I'm so frustrated right now, i feel so overwhelmed and furious at them. I'm currently pregnant and can't take all this extra stress with some so simple as cleaning of one's room. Maybe i'm missing something, pls does anyone have anything that may help or has worked for you, i'm so feed up right now and being a single mother doing this alone isn't helping either.
Have you tried just closing the door so that you don't have to see it?
As long as their room is not a safety or health hazard, then I wouldn't even fight this one. I'd just close the door & not look at it. And, once it is a safety or health hazard, if they won't clean it themselves, then you make the job as easy as possible for yourself the next time, by taking out anything that *you* had to clean for them, to get it up to a safe healthy environment again (for them and for the rest of the family).
