How many of you think about how socialized your choice in mates are?

How many of you think about how socialized your choice in mates are?
I mean...come on...through media, culture, etc...your choice in beauty preference in so skewed...the large amount of white men going to Asia for women...the high amount of Black men preferring lighter skinned women, men in general loving blondes etc...do you ever stop and think how your choice in attraction became?

Not bitter, just asking you to contemplate.

I think you should reconsider whether the premise of your question is actually true.

The media does not dictate men's taste in women. Want proof? All models are tall. All of them. Yet, men have no preference whatsoever for tall women. Shorter women have absolutely no problem getting men.

Want more proof? All models are rail thin. Yet, in reality, a lot of men like women who have a little meat on their bones. You may not believe it, but many men actually like women who some people would consider fat. Many men like the model look, but many men don't.

I actually think that this sort of perspective is a relic from the 1980s and is completely outdated. Or it should be.

In fact, I would say that Internet pornography is a better indication of men's actual tastes. If you haven't looked, in all seriousness, I think you should. The fact is, there are websites devoted to ONLY black women. There are websites devoted to women who are heavier. Men have different tastes, but unfortunately, feminism isn't concerned with what men actually think.

Or take a look as you walk around a shopping center. You will see a great variety of women with a great variety of men. I believe that this is a lot of proof that men find different types of women very attractive.

Feminist thinking hasn't caught up with this. I think the main reason is that feminism, especially in the 1980s, was so against pornography. Feminists often think they get political capital by insisting that women are somehow being oppressed by an impossible beauty standard. But the fact is, there is no way that men as a group are asking women to look only one way.

I'm in university and have been forced to read a lot of feminist literature and quite a bit of it is actually offensive. One article I read by a feminist author was about black women working in strip bars, and the feminist writer didn't even consider that white men were going to the strip bar because the white men found black women attractive.

I would say that many feminist authors will just ignore evidence that doesn't fit into their worldview. I hope you question some of these ideas. Our tastes are actually much wider than you would allow.
